Brodie describes an 'upwelling' as a wind driven ocean current that comes through and stirs up the deeper levels of the ocean, bringing up all the nutrients that had fallen to the bottom to replenish the depleted surface waters.
Like ancient knowledge systems, these old healthy ways rise up to intermingle with all the stuff on the surface.
As Brodie says there's a lot on the surface at the moment, but art is a great way of talking about deeper, underlying things so this show aims to bring that depth to our recognition of the climate crisis and approaches to adaptation.
